To provide effective supervision within the Catering team ensuring a continued professional and a responsive patient meals service is delivered to meet the needs of the service.
This post requires you to be hands on working within the team undertaking duties that may be required within the Catering team.
Proven Team Management skills within a Patient Catering Hospital environment.
Ability to train lead and develop team members.
Main duties of the job
Roster planning ensuring the correct number of staff are available to cover shifts, annual leave, other absence.
Ability to conduct Appraisals, absence reviews.
Knowledge of special dietary requirements.
Ability to maintain controls of our Food Safety Management System.
Excellent Customer Service Skills, liaising colleagues, patients, relatives

Job responsibilities
- Working flexibly within the Catering Team
- Ensuring that cleaning is carried out to the required frequencies and standards, in line with the Food safety and UHL policies and processes.
- Ensuring that waste is correctly segregated as required and that waste is stored/removed as Trust Waste Policy.
- Ensure that any mechanical defects, faulty or broken equipment identified is recorded and reported and taken out of use and labelled do not use.
- Observing and monitoring the team ensuring they are working safely and following processes when undertaking their duties.
- Reporting of Incidents, accidents or near misses in accordance with Trust procedure.
- Ensuring that the correct storage and economical use of materials and chemicals following, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) policies and procedures.
- Working within chilled areas and in wet environments.
- To ensure that Temperature records and cleaning checklist are being completed accurately to the required frequencies.
- Responsibility, that high standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the work area adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
- Ensuring stock rotation, stock is being checked for Dates, Damage and Quality with Quarantine any food items that have been identified. Completing complaint forms and advising your manager of these.
- To adhere to the Trust colour coding system to prevent cross infection.
- Ensure that all equipment is cleaned after use and stored appropriately.
- Completing opening and closing checks
- Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested.
