JOB TITLE: Superintendent Radiographer Post Mortem Imaging

BAND:Band 7

BASE:Your primary base will be at the Leicester Royal Infirmary; however travel between UHL's hospital sites will be required

HOURS:37.5 per week (over 4-5 days)

REPORTS TO:Modality Lead (CT/MRI)

ACCOUNTABLE TO:Imaging Lead General Manager and Consultant Radiographer in PM Imaging

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Superintendent Radiographer in PM Imaging, based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, to help manage the award winning Post Mortem imaging service at University Hospitals of Leicester.

The post holder will work co-operatively with the consultant radiographer PM imaging, PM imaging lead radiologist, modality leads and radiology site manager and other staff in order to ensure that all service users receiveImaging at its Best.

  • This is primarily a first line management role and requires CT, radiographic,postmortem imagingand some MRI knowledge and expertise. The post-holder will be required to work clinically in the department and will contribute to the out of hours and on call service.
  • The role is to provide day to day organization of the PM and forensic imaging service and contribute to the delivery of a high quality imaging service to service users.
  • To help prepare reports and statistics on Inpatient and outpatient turnaround times.
  • To monitor the quality of service to patients and where appropriate participate in the development and implementation of proposals for improving services.
  • To manage rotas ensuring adequate cover for service requirements in and out of hours, maximising the cost effective, efficient use of staffing resources.

  • Qualified Radiographer - Degree level or equivalent
  • Post Mortem experience

Desirable

  • Post graduate qualifications /Leadership/Management course

Experience

  • Experience as a senior radiographer in CT and/or MRI within the NHS.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory/managerial experience
  • Awareness of current professional issues

Communication and relationship skills

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, reflecting a positive, professional attitude at all times.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire and gain commitment
  • Ability to demonstrate and build working relationships with people at all levels within the multidisciplinary teams.
