Job summary
Applications are invited for a 12 month, fixed term, Clinical Fellowship post in Laboratory Haematology.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and forward thinking individual with an interest in laboratory haematology. The post is based primarily within the specialist integrated haematological malignancy diagnostic service, a regional service supporting hospitals across Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland. Working in the laboratory the post holder will gain experience in laboratory management and quality requirements including the accreditation process. In addition, the post holder will undertake 1-2 clinics per week so applicants must have relevant and recent experience both in laboratory and clinical haematology.
There are opportunities to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, audit, research and development.
Main duties of the job
This post is specifically designed to provide experience in laboratory haematology, especially of haematological malignancies while maintaining clinical skills by supporting 1-2 clinics per week.
It is an opportunity to gain supervised specialist experience in haematology diagnostics and would be particularly suited to those who wish to develop a specialised interest in the area of laboratory diagnostics prior to, or following completion of Specialist Training in haematology (UK) (or equivalent).
