Job summary

We have vacancies for Plain X-ray centered Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographers based at Leicester General Hospital.

UHL spans three hospital sites, employs around 14,500 staff and fully embraces role extension. Imaging has regularly supported career progression in Radiographic Reporting/Advanced Practice and in other roles such as Hysterosalpinography, Barium studies, Lithotripsy, Vascular Access, DXA scanning and Ultrasonography.

The nearby Leicester Royal Infirmary has a busy Emergency Department and following a suitable induction period at your base site, there exists a potential opportunity for those who also wish to develop their trauma experience via an additional bank post.

Main duties of the job

We have vacancies for Plain X-ray centered Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographers based at Leicester General Hospital.

Leicester General Hospital specialises in Orthopaedics, Nephrology & Urology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Pain Management and Hepato-biliary surgery.

The Radiology Department has recently had a large investment in new equipment and now has 3 twin plate wireless general DR rooms, 1 DXA scanner, 2 DR mobile units and 4 mobile image intensifiers. In addition the department has 2 CT and 2 MRI scanners, 3 interventional radiology suites that provide support to the GI/GU and vascular services. The plain film work load includes GP appointments, outpatients, extensive elective Orthopaedic, DXA scans and some trauma theatre, urology and pain management, outpatients and theatre cases. There are plans to develop the hospital into a GP and community hub with one of the community diagnostic hubs. Staff also help out at times working in the community hospitals and in the Radiology Emergency Department at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

As a successful applicant, you will be required to participate in the 24/7 out-of-hours roster which includes night duties, weekends and public holiday shifts and you may be expected to work cross site.
