Consultant Cardiac and Thoracic Radiologist- 2 Full Time Posts
This is a Consultant post in Imaging, Clinical Support & Imaging Services Clinical Management Group (CSI CMG).The new post holder will join an established team of cardiothoracic radiologists and imaging cardiologists and will be primarily based at Glenfield Hospital,a tertiary referral university teaching hospital, with a strong international reputation for medical research in cardiac and respiratory health.

Main duties of the job
.To undertake programmed activities in cardio-thoracic imaging. .Opportunities for development of the existing service exist and will be supported where they reflect and support the needs of the local population and the development plans of the trust.. To support the provision of cardiothoracic plain film, ultrasound, CT, and MR and nuclear imaging including stress imaging. To support emergency imaging across UHL. Supervise junior medical staff. To lead/take part in multi-disciplinary team meetings.. To contribute to the training of the Specialist Registrars on the East Midland Deanery (South) radiology training scheme.
. To supervise and train skill-mix radiographers, sonographers and non-medical staff in their present and anticipated roles.. To support and participate in audit, research, teaching and administration.. To take part in the on-call rota within UHL and assist in the provision of weekend radiological support for the Imaging service.. The Imaging service at UHL represents one of the largest single radiology services in the UK, providing imaging services to UHL, one of the largest teaching hospital Trusts in the United Kingdom. The Imaging service has received recognition for the level and efficiency of its service delivery, as well as for innovation in healthcare delivery.
The department offers radiologists an opportunity to develop and manage radiology services across the district in a cohesive and integrated manner. Core services are based around the three main departments offering a comprehensive range of imaging support to the Trust and the surrounding region.

We would also support a colleague who brings other skills, particularly cardiac CT and MRI or wished to develop in these particular areas.The post holder will join the existing on call rota, approximately 1 in 9 delivering acute imaging to UHL.
The appointment will be whole time. Any consultant who is unable to work whole time for personal reasons will be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with consultant colleagues.
