Job summary
Ever thought about a career in an Operating Theatre?
We are looking to recruit Theatre Support Assistants to become part of the team at the Glenfield Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General theatres . These are busy operating theatres covering multiple specialities such as; cardiac, vascular, orthopaedics, paediatric, general and emergency surgery as just a few examples.
Theatre experience is not essential, as full training will be given. We offer a structured training program, a supernumerary period and we reinforce the support given by ensuring that each candidate has a mentor whilst they complete the required care certificate.
For those wanting to develop further, there are a variety of exciting opportunities!
We have opportunities for optional additional training to become a Theatre Associate Practitioner (Band 3), whereby you will be able to independently scrub for select surgeries. We also have Student Operating Department Practitioner Apprenticeships! Both of which come with comprehensive education and training, with no financial cost.
You will be expected to attend the Trust's Theatre Support Assistant Programme. The next program is 04/09/2023 and successful applicants need to be available to start on this date.
English and Maths tests must be passed if offered an interview.
PREVIOUS CANDIDATES NEED NOT RE-APPLY.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the registered Theatre Practitioners within the peri-operative environment, either performing duties within theatre recovery or in the operating theatre and assisting the theatre/surgical team with patient care.
Your role is to support the theatre team and you will be directly involved in patient care. This includes performing paperwork checks, escorting patients that are admitted to us, and communicating important information to the team in the anaesthetic room/theatre.
