Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Radiographer with experience of cardiac catheter lab to help build and support our team in delivery of cardiac procedures at the Glenfield Hospital and the Leicester Royal Infirmary. The Imaging Directorate's Radiology Team provides expert imaging for a wide variety of cases with rotation through adult and paediatric cardiac catheter labs, and our 'state of the art' Hybrid Theatre at the LRI that opened in 2021.

You will be working alongside the existing team of radiographers that provide the day-to-day service for these modalities. You will act as a point of knowledge and support for new starters and actively help to improve the service for our patients.

This is primarily a clinical role with a degree of first line management appropriate to address service needs. The post-holder will be primarily based in the cardiac cath labs, providing leadership and specialist expertise within the area.

The post-holder will be expected to deliver a high quality, effective and efficient radiographic service to the highest professional standards. The role is to provide clinical excellence and manage the day to day organisation of the providing effective and efficient leadership of the area.

The post-holder will be expected to undertake team / line management responsibilities which may include sickness absence, appraisals and maintaining training records.

Main duties of the job

UHL Radiology embraces the latest imaging technology. We are a dynamic friendly multidisciplinary team providing 24/7 support for adult and paediatric cardiac services.

We are proud to offer the very latest minimally invasive cardiac treatments in our interventional suite equipped with Philips Bi-Plane and the LRI and Siemens and Philips equipment at the Glenfield.

The UHL radiology team encourages extended roles and this interesting role offers fantastic opportunities for both personal and professional development where you will fuse together 2 teams on 2 sites.

You will receive full training in a wide range of procedures, using different equipment. These will range from routine diagnostic procedures through to highly complex 'cutting edge' interventions. Previous cardiac catheter lab Radiology experience is desirable, but not essential as full training and support will be provided.

The core service hours are 08.00 - 18.00, 4 days a week and there is in an on call commitment .

The successful candidate will work at both the Leicester Royal Infirmary and the Glenfield Hospital and will be a key member of the senior radiographic team, working alongside Practice Development Lead Radiographers to provide leadership support, participate in quality assurance, audits, appraisals, as well as sharing expert knowledge and providing support to junior members of the team.

A free hospital hopper bus, which travels between the LRI and the Glenfield Hospital, is available for all UHL staff.
