We have the ideal opportunity for you to join our Domestic Services Teams on a Permanent contract, based at the Leicester General Hospital .

Our Team provides a safe and clean environment for our Patients and visitors.

We currently have opportunities for Evening shifts Monday - Friday 16.00- 20.00 on a 20.00hr contract

We are looking for team members who demonstrate enthusiasm, who are eager to learn and to develop themselves; previous experience is desirable, but not essential as full training is provided.

A good standard of English language both written and oral communication is essential. The successful Team members would be expected to respect the Trust Values at all times.

You may be required to work in other designated locations of the Trust as well as your primary base at the LGH. In particular, flexibility is required across the three main hospital sites (Leicester Royal Infirmary, and Glenfield Hospital). Main duties of the job

The role of a Domestic Assistant is to clean to a high standard ward and department areas, ensuring all areas are ready for use for all staff, visitors and patients.

You will work on various types of wards and also be trained on how to clean Department and Theatre areas.

You may be asked to work independently or as part of a small team.

GENERAL DUTIES

To carry out cleaning tasks, both specific and generic, within prescribed work schedules for designated areas, in line with Trust policies and procedures.

To adhere to Trust infection control prevention and Control of Substances Hazard to Health (COSHH) policies in carrying out cleaning tasks.

Ensuring that the domestic trolley and other cleaning equipment are cleaned after use and stored appropriately

To adhere to the Trust colour coding system to prevent cross infection.

Ensuring the correct and economical use of materials and cleaning chemicals in line with above relevant policies i.e. COSHH always seeking advice from Domestic Team Leader if in any doubt.

Cleaning cupboard doors are secure/locked when unattended

To remove & dispose of cardboard, household and clinical waste following adherence to waste regulations and Trust policies and procedures.

Ensure all equipment is cleaned after use and stored securely. Ensure all cleaning products are stored securely.

Report to your Domestic Team Leader any mechanical defects and any equipment in need of repair and any mishaps or untoward incidents.

Able to clean and disinfect areas after body fluid spillages in non-clinical areas (after training)

In Exceptional Circumstances you may have to:

Prepare meal trays and regeneration of patient meals at ward level adhering to Trust food safety management policies and procedures at all times

Recording meal temperatures prior to service delivery

Responsibility for the ward kitchen/regeneration area ensuring high standards of cleanliness are maintained
