Job summary

We are inviting applications from GPs to join our Chemical Pathology team. A keen interest is required; previous chemical pathology experience is desirable but not essential.

The 1.25PA post will give the appointee time for administration associated with the clinic.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job: The main role will be undertaking lipid clinics and helping the related administrative work. This opportunity would suit a part time for two pa sessions a week.

Job responsibilities

The General Practitioner will, during their contracted hours, perform such duties as may be delegated by the Senior Medical Staff in Chemical Pathology, related to the Lipid clinic. In the main, these will consist of the duties defined below.

  • Attending the outpatient Lipid Clinic (Friday morning and afternoon at Glenfield Hospital) and undertaking duties to support the Consultant.
  • Contribution to the running of the Lipid Virtual Clinic in line with service needs (at least 2 sessions per week).
  • The above is negotiable.

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or Equivalent
  • MRCGP
  • CCT in GP Training

Desirable

  • Membership of relevant specialist bodies eg MRCP
  • Advance Communication Skills Training

Experience

Essential

  • At least 36 months' UK experience as a practising dr post F2 year
  • Evidence of an interest in and enthusiasm for Haem

Desirable

  • At least 3 months' Haematology experience at SHO/TG level or as part of GP VTS training
  • Experience delivering teaching to students and peers

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work sensitively within a multicultural community
  • Ability to effectively organise, prioritise and managed clinical workload
  • Ability to motivate and develop both medical and non-medical staff

Desirable

  • Experience of leading teams and awareness of leadership styles
  • Completed a Management Course
