An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 nurse within Alliance endoscopy at Melton Hospital. The endoscopy service in the Alliance consists of 4 stand-alone units based in the community hospitals. This forms part of the larger UHL endoscopy service and sits within the Clinical support and Imaging CMG.

Alliance endoscopy is based in the community hospitals of Melton Mowbray, St Lukes (Market Harborough) Hinckley & District and Loughborough. Melton Mowbray is the primary site for the position but cross site travel to all units is an expectation of the role, driving license and access to a car for work purposes are an essential requirement for the role.

We currently provide a 5 day service covering Monday to Friday over the hours of 8am to 6pm, part-time hours and flexible working will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The unit delivers a high standard of care to achieve the best quality service and outcome for our patients during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. These include Gastroscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy and Cystoscopy.

* Endoscopy experience welcomed but not necessary, full in house training will be given.

* Applications from newly qualified staff are welcomed.

* The post holder will deliver high quality nursing care to patient during their endoscopy journey.

Key parts of the role will be :

Assessing and admitting patient pre procedure

Care of patients during their endoscopy procedure.

Assisting the endoscopist with the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

Recovery and discharge of patients post procedure.

Supervising learners and student nurses
