A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a small, dynamic quality improvement team within one of the largest NHS Trusts in England as part of its Transformation Programme.
The Transformation Programme has been established to develop, drive and deliver quality and efficiency improvements across the Trust. This is all part of the Trust's Quality Strategy with the aim to provide 'Caring at its Best'.
Main duties of the job
The Improvement Lead will work with the Corporate Leads, CMG Transformation Leads, General Managers, Clinical Directors, Heads of Service and Service Managers to enable the identification, scoping, agreement and delivery of specific quality and efficiency improvement projects and programmes and help to deliver a culture of continuous improvement.
The Improvement Lead will not only help deliver a number of specific projects and work streams but more importantly will be tasked, over time, with embedding a culture of continuous improvement across all 17,000 colleagues in the Trust.
The Improvement Lead as part of the QI Team will be "QI Experts" and as such able to provide guidance and coaching to others for improvement projects.

Identifying and delivering quality and efficiency improvements across the Trust
- Supporting and leading enabling work streams (including theatres, procurement and outpatients)
- Measuring and tracking the impact of any agreed change in relation to both quality and financial benefits
- Delivering their projects and programmes using the agreed improvement tools and techniques and being viewed as our Improvement Coaches by colleagues and the wider Trust.
- Effectively cascading improvement skill and tool through the teams and work streams they work with (e.g. through a train the trainer approach). Over time these roles will be responsible for developing a pool of skilled Advanced Improvers, or Improvement Champions.
- Leading by example; with a positive mindset, the behaviours and habits of an improver through engagement and influential leadership.
- Create a culture of continuous improvement across the Trusts pathways and processes.
Service Delivery
- Deliver a portfolio of quality and efficiency improvements across agreed clinical and corporate services; leading to sustainable improvements to the quality and efficiency of the Trust.
- Ensure governance arrangements are in place to support quality and efficiency improvement projects; project plans including milestones, delivery dates, key performance indicators (KPIs), risk assessments and quality impact assessments (QIAs).
- Taking responsibility for the overall progress of projects, programmes and work streams managed; including the effective use of resources, reporting and benefits realisation.
- Ensure the delivery of identified outputs and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure that all necessary communications are undertaken across the Trust and with healthcare partners to enable successful delivery.
- Contribute actively to the Trusts quality and efficiency agenda.
- Provide an appropriate balance of challenge and support to clinical and corporate team managers in the development and delivery of quality and efficiency improvements.
