An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated and experienced individual to work within Corporate Nursing as the Matron for Safe Staffing (Nursing)
This role will provide a coordinated approach and commitment to delivering the Trust's Safe Staffing workforce plan.The post holder must be a Registered Nurse with the NMC, with Safe Staffing/ Nursing Workforce experience.
Main duties of the job
- The post-holder will provide expertise and leadership with the utilisation of safe staffing evidence-based tools and up-to-date and relevant national guidance for safe staffing within the nursing field.
- Support on workforce data reporting in relation to Safe Staffing as per national guidance and requirements.
- Utilisation of the workforce data reporting to support strategic and operational decision making.
- Support safe, effective and sustainable staffing through effective use of electronic rostering (e-rostering) and e-rostering related software.
- Explore and implement innovative approaches to support safe, effective sustainable staffing across the organisation.
- Work in collaboration with Corporate Nursing Team, Heads of Nursing, Deputy Heads of Nursing, Matrons and Ward Managers; providing resource, expertise, advice and guidance to nurses across the organisation.
- Contribute to Safe Staffing reporting, including internal and external reporting submissions.
- Deputise in the absence of the Lead Nurse for Safe Staffing.

Main tasks and responsibilities
- Work alongside the Lead Nurse for Safe Staffing, Head of Nursing for Recruitment, Retention and Pastoral Care, Deputy Chief Nurse and Chief Nurse to support the delivery of safe, effective and sustainable nursing across all clinical management groups.
- Collaborate with the Electronic Rostering Service Lead on all issues related to HealthRoster for Nursing; and act as a subject expert within the nursing field.
- Lead on the workforce evidence-based tools (such as the Safer Nursing Care Tool) in use at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, supporting clinical management groups to deliver their audit data, providing analysis and support for the Bi-Annual Establishment Reviews.
- Attendance to the Bi-Annual Establishment Reviews for nursing, providing advice and guidance where necessary.
- Work in collaboration with the Workforce Intelligence Team, E-Rostering Team and any other relevant colleagues to ensure robust reporting and analysis of nursing and midwifery workforce data, including but not limited to, acuity and dependency monitoring, red flag alerts, HealthRoster deep dive data, deployment data and other safe staffing performance metrics (such as Care Hours Per Patient Day, CHPPD).
- Work collaboratively with the senior multi-professional team to maximise relevance and usability of nursing workforce data to inform decision making.
