Job summary

The post holder will have a level of knowledge and expertise that supports consultancy across these four interdependent pillars.

They will provide expert practice in their field of imaging, including image reporting. The post holder will also be competent in contributing to or leading MDT discussions.

They will exercise a high degree of professional and personal autonomy, acting as a consultant practitioner, demonstrating advanced clinical competence, decision making and a knowledge base beyond those associated with conventional Advanced Practitioner roles, thereby acting as an expert in their field

To spend a minimum of 60% direct clinical care with the remainder of time split across specified supporting professional activities (SPA) and other activities such as additional NHS responsibilities (ANR) and externally funded duties (ED) ensuring all four pillars of practice are maintained.

You will need to be flexible in your approach to work and alterations in hours or times of work may be required from time to time and this will be done with consultation and negotiation.

Main duties of the job

Consultant Radiographer in Cardiothoracic Imaging

This post needs to be led by a radiographer with experience in advanced clinical practice and abilities to ensure that the interactions with the key services facilitates a progression to improve new ways of working.

We are looking for an experienced radiographer with extensive autonomous Radiographic reporting with Chest reporting within their current practice to lead this service.

Applicants must be HCPC registered radiographers with post graduate qualifications in chest Reporting. Skype interviews are not accommodated.

  • Provide a highly specialised imaging service complying with all standards of both the Department and other relevant national bodies.
  • Provide clinical and professional leadership
  • Support and facilitate the development and introduction of evidence-based practice
  • Contribute to policy proposals on behalf of national organisations such as the College of Radiographers
