Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Nursing Associate Programme Team.

The LLR Foundation Degree Science Nursing Associate Programme is unique in so far as it is delivered by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust through a collaborative partnership with De Montfort University as the awarding Higher Education Institute. The post holder will be responsible for the design and delivery of a Module within the programme. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the assessment strategy for the module enables trainees to meet the expected learning outcomes and demonstrate the application of skills to practice. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the professional and regulatory requirements are met of both the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and De Montfort University.

Potential post holders will have a genuine interest in teaching and have demonstrable teaching skills; you must hold a first degree and either possess or be willing to work towards the PGCert HE or equivalent. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Nursing Associate role and NMC Standards of Proficiency and application of the NMC Code within their practice and teaching.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will take overall responsibility for the design, development and delivery of an identified module within the Foundation Degree Science Nursing Associate.
  • Provide academic leadership for the module ensuring that the content is developed in a way to enable the learner to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to meet the outcomes of the module
  • Ensure a robust assessment strategy in keeping with the planned assessment, providing guidance, support and tutorials to enable the learner to maximise their potential
  • Monitor the quality of the module through a range of strategies to seek feedback from learners, peers and the Programme Leader, developing an enhancement plan to provide evidence of module appraisal.
  • Work collaboratively with the Programme Leader to ensure that the module adheres to the School, Faculty and University regulations, policies and procedures.

The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Nursing Associate Programme is delivered on site at the Glenfield Hospital under a collaborative agreement with De Montfort University. The team of educators are passionate about the nursing associate role and providing learners with the skills and knowledge to practice safely across the County. With 150 learners across three cohorts per year the team is committed to offering support, guidance and high quality teaching that values individual development and a creative approach to ensure we are offering learners the opportunity to be successful and develop into compassionate, competent, safe practitioners.
