Job summary

These posts are based at Lincoln County Hospital .

Working within our busy environment you will carry out Health Records duties as part of the wider Outpatients team, assisting in the daily provision of a professional health records service ensuring patients, relatives and visitors receive the best possible service. The role will involve the filing, locating, retrieval and preparation of patient case notes, to ensure that national waiting times are adhered to. Advising staff by telephone and dealing with their enquires is also a key part of this role.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must have clerical experience and have worked with the public in a customer care position. Applicants should have GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C or above including Maths and English or an NVQ2 in the relevant subjects (or equivalent) e.g. customer care or administration. Knowledge and experience of NHS targets is essential as is the ability to work to tight deadlines. The successful candidate will be able to work as an individual and as part of a team having the ability to be flexible, being able to prioritise and organise work in order to meet tight deadlines whilst being able to adapt to the changing needs of the service. It is essential to be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, together with accuracy and attention to detail whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times. Good data entry/keyboard skills are desirable together with a basic understanding of medical terminology.

Pilgrim Hospital is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).
