Part Time Driver - Band 2 - Relief Driver

Job summary

United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trusts' Fleet & Logistics team provides a wide range of non-patient transport services in collaboration with a number of other NHS organisations across the whole of the county. Items transported include, internal courier mail, health records, patient food, pharmacy, stores, diagnostic specimens and medical instruments.

Main duties of the job

This relief driving post based at Lincoln County Hospital will involve driver cover for the movement of time critical pharmacy products, internal mail and equipment, etc. to support the Trusts' clinical activity. The post holder will be required to read addresses, sort internal mail, manually secure the vehicle load, be able to load/unload the vehicle and must be capable of and have vocational experience of driving various vehicle types including passengers cars and light commercial vehicles up to 3500 kg Gross Vehicle Weight. The post holder should be available to work excess hours (up to 37.5 hours per week) over an above the contracted hours as and when required by the service.

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full and valid United Kingdom driving licence with no more than 3 penalty endorsement points for a minor motoring offence
  • Able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to complete paperwork relating to delivery and collections and comprehension skills sufficient to be able to read and understand written instructions

Desirable

  • Category C1 driving entitlement for driving vehicles up to 7500kg Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM)
  • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC)
  • Health & Safety qualifications and/or training
  • NVQ Level 2, or above, in Customer Care
  • First Aider training

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate previous experience in a customer based organisation
  • Minimum of 3 years driving experience in the United Kingdom
