Job summary

To assist the Head of Clinical Coding in delivering a programme of Clinical Coding and Data Quality Audits to ensure that patient coded data is of known quality to support effective use of data for reimbursement, benchmarking, performance monitoring and other analytical requirements.

Main duties of the job

Plan, develop, implement and manage the delivery of the Clinical Coding audit/training service using NHS Digital Clinical Classifications material.

To deliver the training to new Coders, existing Coders requiring further/refresher training and and external service users

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Essential

  • NCCQ (ACC) - Accredited Clinical Coder
  • Qualified as a Clinical Coder with documented evidence of NHS digital authorised formal training. Competency achievement gained and formal refresher training

Desirable

  • NHS digital Accredited Clinical Coding trainer qualification
  • Training Foundation TAP Certificate in delivery skills

Previous experience

Essential

  • To have worked in an NHS acute trust clinical coding environment. NHS coding experience within the last 12 months
  • Computer literate with knowledge of windows environment and microsoft suite applications.
  • Evidence and experience of presentations to multiple disciplines of NHS staff.

  • Highly self motivated. Ability to develop implement and manage training/audit programme to support clinical coders and related professions at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate complex coding rules to coding staff, clinical staff, managerial staff and external agencies.

Evidence of particular knowledge, skills and aptitudes.
