Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a forward-thinking Consultant in Health Care of the Older Person medicine to join our dedicated team and help us to deliver outstanding services to our patients, developing enhanced care for frail older people and alternatives to hospital admission, such as virtual frailty ward.
In-patient care is undertaken predominantly on Harrowby Ward. This post will input into the care of older people's wards, the orthopaedic wards and the Frailty services, but the service model is in continuous evolution in order to meet the demands of the population. The successful post holder would be expected to participate fully in innovating the service for older people.
The team provide General Geriatric clinics and specialized clinics such as Falls, Movement disorders and unspecific symptom pathway input and collaboration with neighbourhood teams in the East Coast.
All members of the department meet monthly in HCOP pan-Trust Clinical Governance to discuss various aspects of the service, review complaints and consider new proposals.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should demonstrate extensive experience in health care of the older person and the new appointee will be encouraged to develop specialist interests. The post holder will be required to:o Participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care
o Take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
o Participate in local mandatory training, yearly appraisal and revalidation
o Contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development
o Contribute to the development of clinical quality and effectiveness in other clinical areas where these overlap with developments in Stroke
