Job summary

Ashby ward is an 18 bedded specialised Rehabilitation unit for people with physical disabilities, sited in Lincoln county hospital. Ashby ward is a Friendly ward that cares for male and female patients. The nursing team are very caring, friendly, and compassionate and provide a high standard of nursing care

Permanent Post

To support and work closely with registered practitioners to deliver a high standard of care to patients, families and their carers in a safe and supportive environment without the need for direct supervision.

To work as part of the wider team in developing and maintaining services provided to patients and contribute to the safe, efficient and smooth running of the ward/clinical area or department.

To complete and maintain on an ongoing basis a generic and specific portfolio of clinical competencies and Care Certificate. Understand own level of responsibility, scope of practice and accountability and at all times act within own capabilities.

Maintain a high standard of personal behaviour, acting as a role model to support and guide others and ensure effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team, patients, families/carers and relatives.

Pilgrim Hospital is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Essential

  • oLiteracy and numeracy qualifications equivalent to Functional Skills level 1 or above (e.g. GCSE grade E or above)
  • oNVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
  • oEvidence of the Care Certificate or commitment to achieve on joining Trust.
  • oMotivated to develop knowledge and skills and to undertake self-development

Desirable

  • oUnderstanding of the Code of Conduct for Health Care Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England

Previous Experience
