Job summary

Starting June 2025

We are looking for a linen room assistant to join our existing team. You would play a key role in making sure all areas of the hospital, including wards and all other areas, are kept to the highest standards by providing a linen service to all patient areas.

POST 1 15 hours a week Mon 6.00am - 9.00am & Tues - Fri 07.30 - 10.30am

Main duties of the job

  • Providing wards and clinics with the linen they require for the daily needs of our patients
  • Full range of cleaning duties including vacuuming, mopping etc. to ensure the work area is kept clean and tidy
  • Some roles may require the use of specialist personal protective equipment.
  • Completing daily paperwork
  • Counting, adding and subtracting figures is a big part of the role.
  • Following department cleaning schedules.
  • Diluting cleaning chemicals and following set procedures being mindful of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
  • Workload is set daily but may be required to do extra to cover absence of team members

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Essential

  • Basic general secondary education in English and Maths
  • Be able to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and comprehension of written instructions sufficient to follow instructions and be able to complete documentation relating to receipt/issue etc. of linen deliveries

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 Support Services or equivalent

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Must have experience in domestic environment
  • Knowledge of cleaning and COSHH procedures

Desirable

  • Be able to demonstrate previous experience within the NHS
  • Be able to demonstrate previous experience of linen services
  • Knowledge of/training in Moving/Handling techniques

Konwledge, Skills & Aptitudes

Essential

  • Be able to demonstrate use of initiative in problem solving
  • Be able to demonstrate ability to prioritise tasks
  • Demonstrate understanding of/training in COSHH
  • Be able to demonstrate ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Be able to demonstrate a high standard of interpersonal skills
  • Be able to demonstrate a positive approach to team working and/or lone working.
