Job summary

To support achievement of the Referral to Treatment (RTT) target. Not just through validation of the referral to treatment Patient Tracking Lists (PTLs) but with an understanding of a patients care journey.

To support the work of the 18-week team Pan Trust in the monitoring and delivery of national and local waiting time targets.

To be responsible for reporting the potential of any 'breach' of the Referral to Treatment standard and ensure that potential breaches are fast tracked through the system.

Please note this post is working on Lincoln County Hospital site.

This post will commence from April 25

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for ensuring that patients' waiting times are validated and accurately reflected within the RTT PTL in line with Department of Health guidance relating to RTT. This will involve onsite interactions with colleagues identifying and recording RTT clocks starts, using PAS and patient notes.

To liaise with waiting list staff and medical secretaries to ensure that accurate information is obtained and that this is recorded.

To have autonomy to investigate and proactively manage patient pathways in liaison with service managers to ensure that patients are treated within the national 18 Week target.

To assist the Business Unit managers in identifying, reporting and resolving RTT data collection issues in order to achieve a high standard of quality and completeness of RTT information.

To plan and organise own work schedule, demonstrating good time management and ensuring anticipated difficulties in meeting deadlines are reported promptly.

To develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and other staff groups within the Trust, ensuring that a professional, efficient and courteous service is provided.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Previous Experience

  • Experience in the use of Patient Administration Systems or other Health Information Systems
  • Data validation/quality experience within a large complex organisation.
  • Experience of data handling, including sourcing, collection and inputting on PAS
  • Good working knowledge of Trust case notes

Knowledge - Skills - Aptitudes

Essential

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of 18 Week principles including RTT measurement & application
  • Logical reasoning and data analysis skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply guidelines under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Good keyboard skills with significant Microsoft Excel and Word use
  • Demonstrable skills in managing and prioritising own workload.
