Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent organisational, time management and communication skills to work as an Assistant Research Practitioner. The ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team is essential. Previous experience of clinical research is desirable but not essential however administration experience and excellent IT skills are essential.

Based within the Cardiology speciality, the successful candidate will lead and coordinate the administrative aspects of the role that relate particularly to the management of participant data and biological samples.

The post holder is expected to coordinate a limited number of non-complex, non-interventional studies as and when these are available, with senior support, alongside supporting the research team with a variety of more complex clinical trials. The post is based on the Lincoln County Hospital site.

Main duties of the job

This job role particularly provides opportunities to develop, gain experience and knowledge within Cardiology setting also supporting other trials within the research delivery team.

We have lots of training available and an extensive induction programme will be offered to ensure staff build confidence and skill within the role.

Specific tasks will be:

  • Completion of trial forms and prompt data entry into the online databases
  • Coordinating smooth running of lab processes, managing the processing of lab samples and the vendors associated with each trial
  • Venepuncture
  • Arranging and attendingclinic visits and other patient appointments
  • Being a point of contact for trial participants
  • Responding to enquiries from potential participants
  • Assisting the setup of clinical trials non-complex trials
  • Working with Commercial sponsors on trials with demanding time lines
  • Supporting Principle Investigators in the screening and recruitment of potential patients by using clinical data, direct clinic screening and interacting with the Multidisciplinary team
  • Obtaining informed consent from participants were appropriate once consent training is completedExperience of the above procedures would be an advantage, but the post-holder will be joining an experienced team and full training will be given.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

  • GCSE Grade C or 4 above (Or equivalent) as minimum in 3 or more subjects Must include English, Science and Mathematics. Equivalent qualifications are acceptable
  • Current IT Qualification or a able to evidence an excellent level of current IT skills

  • Recent administration experience in an office environment (within the past 5 years)
  • Knowledge of data management, confidentiality and GDPR
