Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Theatre Practitioner/ Staff Nurse/ODP to join the Orthopaedic Department within Grantham Hospital.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated team players to join our friendly Operating Theatre Department.

We continuously support learning and development and encourage skill mixing.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of the Multi-professional theatre team to provide care during the delivery of clinical services. The role requires to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate own workload, organising equipment and resources as service demands, in accordance with policies and protocols. Ensuring all documentation relating to patient care is maintained, accurate and legible.

Continuation of professional development is expected through post registration study. The role requires an ability to work on own initiative within the appropriate legal requirements, acts, policies, procedures and guidelines. The role requires a level of autonomy to practice governed by the code of professional conduct.

The theatre practitioner should have a knowledge of health and safety, infection control and moving and handling. The successful applicants must be able to communicate effectively with all members of the multi professional team.

  • Experience in a multi speciality operating department setting.
  • Must be able to provide assistance to the theatre users in a variety of clinical situations including routine emergency and trauma work
  • Experience of leading or contributing to the management of the operating department team
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of the modern operating department
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Control of Infection and Moving and Handling policies.

  • Experience of working within a peri-operative environment
