Job summary

To support the Head of Income in the provision of a professional and comprehensive service both internally and externally to the Trust.

The post holder will provide proactive financial and technical support, advice and information in respect of the National Tariff Payment System regime and financial systems for income from NHS activity throughout the whole organisation (c£700m).

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Member of the Finance team, delivery against the Trusts corporate objectives is expected, in particular the Trusts medium term objectives to achieve sustainable financial health. The post holder may be required to deputise for the Head of Income by attending meetings and participate fully in their agendas, including the provision of expert financial advice to senior managers, and attendance and presentation of financial reports at monthly meetings. The post holder will also be responsible for the staff performance management, recruitment and work of all direct report staff.

The post-holder will manage the SLAM IT system to ensure that income from NHS activity is correctly calculated and invoiced in accordance with national requirements and timescales which will require highly specialised technical knowledge of both the SLAM IT system and National Tariff Payment System.

The post holder will ensure that all income from NHS activity is invoiced, reported, analysed and forecast for the whole organisation in accordance with national deadlines and local timetables. Aligned to this will be the assessment and modelling of future tariff change implications.

  • Experience of IT including advanced spreadsheets, computerised financial ledgers, budgeting and financial modelling systems and costing systems.
  • Understanding of NHS Financial Regime

  • Pevious finance experience within the Health Service
  • Understanding of the principles of the national HRG grouper.
  • Commercial awareness
  • Previous Senior Financial experience within the NHS.
  • Experience of working within an acute trust
