Job summary

An Exciting opportunity for a Health Care Support Worker to work in the Trauma Assessment Unit (TAU) at Pilgrim Hospital based on ward 3a and at Lincoln County hospital based on Shuttleworth ward

The Trauma Assessment Unit (TAU) provides a 7 day service; providing a first point of contact and comprehensive triage and clinical assessment to patients and/or their carers/relatives resulting in a safe and appropriate clinical decision and plan of care for Orthopaedic trauma patients.

Referrals are received from Accident & Emergency departments, Urgent Treatment Centres, Out of Hours Services, GP and ambulance services across Lincolnshire for urology and orthopaedic speciality

Main duties of the job

Working under delegation and supervision of a registered Nurse/ Midwife, the Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) will undertake defined responsibilities appropriate to their role in the workplace setting

Support the Ambulatory senior nurse with health triage and assessment of ambulant individuals presenting with a urological and/or orthopaedic complaint, including supporting aversion of unnecessary hospital admission through assessment and treatment of individuals, assessing complex and specialist needs in order to assist the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

.Working under delegation and supervision of a registered Nurse, the Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) will undertake defined responsibilities appropriate to their role in the workplace setting. They will comply with Trust policies, protocols, guidelines, the fifteen standards of the Care Certificate and the national strategy of Compassion in Practice and will ensure safe, compassionate and competent care is delivered to our patients and service users at all times.

It is a requirement of United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust that all HCSWs adhere to the Code of Conduct for healthcare support workers and adult social care workers.

All HCSW will be supported in completing the Care Certificate, which can be used to support applications to higher learning (Nurse Associate).
