Secretarial Assistant - Obstetrics & Gynaecology - Band 2

Job summary

The medical secretarial team provides a comprehensive service to the Consultants and their teams and is essential in the provision of a high quality patient experience. The post-holder will support the administration and secretarial duties for the Obstetric & Gynaecology team.

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic team player and an experienced typist, and will be required to have GCSE English grade C or equivalent as well as typing and word processing skills to RSA level 2, including audio typing experience. A flexible approach to work is required and an ability to get on with others in a team based environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Assists and supports the medical secretaries in providing an efficient medical secretarial service for the clinical team.
  • Assists and supports the medical secretaries in achieving targets including CQUINs and validation.
  • Assists and supports the Elective Access Clerk to provide an administrative service to the patient which supports the achievement of nationally and locally agreed access standards
  • Provides cover for colleagues in their absence to maintain service levels
