Job summary

  • Be the Clinical Specialist for Head and Neck Skin Cancer within the Trust, co-ordinating the Trust wide service development and evaluation within this speciality.
  • To provide support and guidance to inpatient and outpatients in order to ensure high quality care and best practice.
  • Provision of day-to-day management of the Therapy team ensuring appropriate levels of expert supervision.
  • To support the team in deliver an outstanding service with high quality, safe, personalised, cost effective, patient focused service, with effective demand management systems which are responsive to the changing local need utilising technological options to maximise efficiency and safety.
  • Maintain a complex clinical caseload, with clinical activity accounting for between 50-60% of working hours.

Main duties of the job

Take responsibility for the delivery and evaluation of specialist care for patients undergoing treatment for Head & Neck skin cancer.

Develop, and evaluate policies and procedures for Trust wide service development.

Develop strategies and policies for local service development.

Audit service and evaluate outcomes to improve service development.

Determine the effective use of resources implementing new initiatives where possible to run a cost effective service

Continually monitor own performance in the provision of care ensuring professional standards are met at all times

Establish clear referral patterns, communicating and co-operating with all departments, wards and relevant professionals

Develop strategies to ensure that the Head & Neck skin cancer service benefits all service users within agreed resources

Leadership

Lead, direct, support and develop the Head & Neck skin cancer service across Lincolnshire.

Develop strategies to motivate the Head & Neck skin cancer multi-professional team

Contribute to the multidisciplinary team decision making process within the Head & Neck skin cancer service

Participate in the investigation and resolution of complaints
