Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join our expanding, progressive, friendly and forward thinking Antimicrobial Pharmacy team.

This post has prime responsibility for daily running of the ULHT OPAT service. You will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be confident managing expectations and directing patients, nursing staff, prescribers and other health care staff. You will need to have experience working in a hospital setting. You will need to have good computer skills, and be familiar with Microsoft. Training and development of this role will be provided on the job. Broader antimicrobial responsibilities of the role include audit and research, teaching, and specialist reports, with involvement at multiple levels of organisational structure. Opportunities to share work regionally and nationally are always supported, as well as any other professional development plans.

Main duties of the job

Providing expert advice and input on antimicrobial treatments and infection management. Taking referrals from various staff groups.

Clinical screening and medical optimisation of potential OPAT patients.

Formulating OPAT plans for each patient to include relevant monitoring and adjustments of drug and infection.

Overseeing efficient multidisciplinary team working on the OPAT virtual ward.

Making prescribing decisions on antimicrobial therapies, tailored to the patient.

Participate in various education and training initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship.

Surveillance reporting on antimicrobial incidents and outcomes.
