Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Switchboard Operator post at Grantham Hospital.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated individuals to join the Estates and Facilities Department's hospital Switchboard team. This high profile role calls for good communication skills and experience of working closely with the general public. You will need to be able to cope calmly and effectively with both routine and emergency situations, and be a compassionate, professional and courteous individual.
This is a varied and interesting post involving liaising with departments in the hospital as well as security, maintenance and other support staff.
These hours involve lone-working throughout the shift and being able to use your initiative is paramount.
These hours will incur enhancements throughout the shifts.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required to answer all internal and external calls, including emergency, fire and cardiac, respond to alarms, issue keys, deal with the bleep system and ensure on-call rotas are completed.
Full training will be given before the successful candidate commences the role. Training will be undertaken Monday to Friday during normal working hours
The post is based on a 12 week rota;
Friday Night Shifts - 10pm - 8am - every week
Saturday Night Shifts - 10pm - 8am - weeks 1, 6 and 10 on a 12 week rota.
Sunday 3pm-10pm shifts - weeks 2, 5 and 11 on a 12 week rota
All of the above shifts will incur enhancements for working out of hours.
There is an opportunity to undertake shifts to cover annual leave and sickness.
