Job summary

Are you looking for a new opportunity in the beautiful and historic city of Lincoln? The radiotherapy team is aspiring to deliver state of the art treatments with motion management as our major focus using SGRT. Our suite of equipment and software is simplifying the routine activities and enabling us to focus on the more clinical aspects in a multidisciplinary team setting. The team have recently seen the integration of AI contouring and 3D printing which has streamlined in-house processes.

CT imaging is provided by a Toshiba Aquillion LB CT scanner , recently upgraded to include SEMAR, with Vision RT's GateCT adding the 4D aspect. This follows through to the TrueBeams utilising AlignRT.

The Brachytherapy service is provided by a multidisciplinary team in a dedicated suite. An Elekta HDR unit is used for gynae and prostate treatments, with Oncentra Masterplan and Oncentra Prostate planning systems. In addition there is an I125 seed prostate service using U/S guidance with Variseed planning. We also run the iodine ablation service.

The external beam service is provided by Varian TrueBeams, with MMI and OBI CBCT, and Eclipse planning system. Tattooless DIBH treatments utilising the SGRT AlignRT system are now routine in the department.

Main duties of the job

Dosimetrist Band 6 x 2

We are looking for two Dosimetrists, on the register of clinical technologists, or a state registered (HCPC) Radiographer with a relevant degree or equivalent post qualification experience and specialist knowledge in at least two areas; treatment planning, mould room, brachytherapy including iodine ablation.

You will have a relevant Healthcare Science degree or Radiotherapy and Oncology degree. You will want to develop your work practices to cover the multitude of new opportunities available through guidelines, peer reviewed publications and within the scope of our quality improvement programme and risk management strategies.

Multi-disciplinary working is essential and it is expected that you will be someone who can work as part of the team. The size of the department provides opportunities to be involved in many different areas of work and be part of the working groups improving aspects of patient throughput and experience.
