Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Physiotherapy Assistant to join the Community Neuro-rehabilitation Outreach team, based at Grantham District Hospital.

The Community Neuro-rehabilitation Outreach team provide a comprehensive and co-ordinated rehabilitation service to people across Lincolnshire with a long term neurological condition or following multiple trauma who have complex rehabilitation needs. The team includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, clinical nurse specialists and a dietitian and has close links with the Rehabilitation Medicine consultants, Ashby Ward and the wider health and social care system across Lincolnshire. The service covers the whole of Lincolnshire with staff based at 4 sites: Louth, Boston, Lincoln and Grantham.

We are looking for a physiotherapy assistant with recent experience of working within rehabilitation in the acute or community setting to support the physiotherapist in the team. Prior experience of working independently in the community and working with people with neurological / long term conditions would be desirable. Training and support will be given to develop the specific competencies required for this role: the department is committed to staff development through in-service training and a competency based assessment programme.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to liaise closely with senior physiotherapist colleagues in OT and the specialist nurse in order to provide a seamless service.

The successful applicant will carry out rehabilitation programmes directed by the Physiotherapist.

You will be working largely in patients own homes within a defined catchment area, and the nature of the role will include a large element of lone working. An ability to be able to fulfil the travel requirements of this post will be essential.

You will be expected to participate in the weekend rota for the wards at Grantham Hospital as part of this role, full training will be given for this, you would also have the opportunity to support with the running of the neuro hydrotherapy service.

It is essential that applicants hold a full UK driving licence and have a car available for work, as the successful applicant will be required to undertake home visits independently.

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in relevant health care area
