we are a GIRFT accredited hub and one of the first 9 in the country for our LOS and for our utilisation of theatres and patient experience and we provide care for elective patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures, these being General Surgery, Urology, ENT, OMF, Breast, Ophthalmology and OrthopaedicCurrently the patient groups are a mixture of day cases, overnight staysThe unit is 2 floors and one will incorporate Orthopaedics fully ring fenced patients and one floor for other specialities including General surgical/urology/Breast/Gynae/ENT/Max fax with a capacity of 49 beds in total -
Ophthalmology patients in our separate eye clinic twice weekly
Nursing cover is required 24/7 so the post holder will be required to support these hours of working..... days, nights & weekendsThe successful candidate should have previous surgical nursing skill.Both full time and part time hours would be considered for this postWe are looking for a highly motivated individuals who want to work in a busy and demanding environment. they must have excellent communication skills and enjoy being part of a team
Main duties of the job
Admission of elective surgical patients in a timely manner to ensure smooth flow to theatres
discharging patients utilising nurse led criteria and aiming for LOS with day case orthopaedic joint replacements and Super path orthopaedic patientsWorking on the ward with in-patients facilitating dischargesVenepuncture/Cannulation/ECG'sBe aware of your role with regard to Medicines Management and relevant policies/codes -
Knowledge of EPMA is beneficial but training can be given
