Job summary

Are you looking to take the next step in your career? Pilgrim Theatres are looking for a Clinical Educator to join and support our amazing team.

To be a link person within the department for the international nurses, students, newly qualified members of staff and current staff for education, wellbeing and training needs.

Act as the lead for the department for training and clinical education in order to deliver optimal patient care and provide a high quality service for the multi professional team.

Lead Specialist team in designated clinical area

Act as co-ordinator for the department

All Departments employ a dedicated team of Registered Nurses, Paramedics, Healthcare Support Workers, Porters, Reception staff and Housekeepers and an exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the leadership team supporting their growth and the quality of care received by patients in our care.

The successful applicant will be accountable along with the band 7 team and the Matron to ensure an established workforce are kept up to date with their training requirements and that new starters to the department are guided appropriately through the induction/ initial integration process within the team.

This is an extensive role that would suit a passionate, dynamic, inspiring professional with the drive for excellence and success.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for maintaining the training database for theatres and ensuring that mandatory training/study is current for all staff and clinical competencies are evidenced.

Responsible for developing a training/education programme for the theatre team based on evidence based and best practice guidelines which meets NSPA recommendations and is linked with the current theatre caseload.

Co-ordinate and monitor the theatres, staff and specialities to maintain effective and efficient multidisciplinary team working, ensuring control mechanisms are in place to create safe working practices working within Trust Policies.

Ensure compliance with Trust and departmental policies

Manage staff absence in conjunction with Theatre Service Manager and Human Resources, within designated team.

Promote an understanding within team of how Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness affects day to day activity within the department through audit and research ensure all our practices are evidence based.

Create an environment conductive to change, participating in identification, development and review of guidelines and standards of care.

Develop Theatre Practitioners to provide effective leadership by demonstrating a high level of clinical expertise to support staff and promote their development

Respond to complaints and assist in their resolution within the Trusts complaints handling framework
