Designated Checking Pharmacy Technician

  • Base site - Lincoln County Hospital
  • Band 5 (£28,407 to £34,581)
  • 37.5 hours per week (post equalling 2 Whole Time Equivalent)
  • 08:45-17:15 Mon-Fri. 09:30-13:15 Sat, Sun and bank holidays
  • Contract type - Permanent
  • Applications are invited for the post of Designated CheckingPharmacy Technician based at Lincoln County Hospital.

This post will be based at Lincoln County Hospital but the successful applicants may need to travel to other sites within the Trust. The successful applicants will be expected to participate in the existing Weekend and Bank Holiday Rotas within the Pharmacy Dispensary.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a GPhC registered pharmacy technician who is committed, enthusiastic and hardworking. Duties will include working in the dispensary, Aseptic preparation area and on the wards. Based initially in our dispensary you will be involved in dispensing for in-patients and out-patients. On the wards, after appropriate training, you will be involved in medicines reconciliation at admission and 24 hours prior to discharge, assessment of patients own medication, transcribing and ordering medications and counselling or advising our service users and patients.

You will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be confident speaking to patients, nursing staff, prescribers and other health care staff. You will need to have experience working as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or community setting. Experience of using pharmacy specific computer systems such as Ascribe or JAC is desirable.
