Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic team on the Saxon Suite

Saxon Suite is a new Gastroenterology day case suite , caring for patients with a wide variety of conditions effecting the gastrointestinal system. Diseases and illness effecting this system cross age, ethnicity and social background so you will experience caring for the younger adult as well as those more senior in years.

As part of the small friendly team you will play a vital role in delivering individualised treatment plans to patients who have been referred to the suite. You will receive relevant training and competence from the speciality doctor overseeing the unit. You will develop management skills managing junior staff under the supervision of the band 7 and will be instrumental in progressing the service to it's full potential.

Main duties of the job

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our small dynamic team on the Saxon Suite. We need someone who can provide leadership ensuring the day to day running of the unit, and bring ideas and enthusiasm to the role. It is expected that you will act as a deputy to the band 7 of the unit and support with training and the management of junior members of the team. You must be able to communicate at all levels, and be a strong patient advocate. The position involves working a flexible pattern over a 5 day service Monday to Friday 8-18:00

You will have the potential to receive training and competence in a number of new skills such as, venesection, Ascitic taps, hydrogen breath testing, fibro scanning and nurse led paracentesis. You will be involved in specialised MDTs and discussion with the wider MDT team to provide holistic care to the patient.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have recent experience of working within the medical setting. He/she will have experience of multidisciplinary working and will demonstrate excellent communication skills. You must be enthusiastic in helping to lead the team and develop the service and continue to achieve high standards in audit. A teaching and assessing qualification is essential.
