Job summary
You will be working in a complex care environment, taking care of patients who have dementia or long term medical conditions such as Parkinson's Disease. You will be working on all shift patterns, providing high quality patient care with compassion and integrity.
You will receive first class support and direction from the ward sister and the nursing team. We will actively encourage the successful applicants to continue with their own professional and personal development. The successful candidates will need to work as an active member of the team and at all times deliver high standards of patient care, while maintaining a positive experience for the patients. Your responsibilities will be to take charge of the shift and you will be expected to support the ward sister with continuous ward improvements and audits.
Main duties of the job
Lancaster Ward is a 16 bedded unit caring for frail patients both male and female for a length of stay of less than 72 hours. The unit currently mostly takes transfers from MEAU but also direct admissions to the ward direct from ED. The service is ever growing for frailty and there are exciting opportunities arising. A fantastic opportunity has currently arisen for a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team and support the developments of our area. Frail older people are complex with a myriad of care needs and they face many challenges during this phase of life. Caring for them and ensuring a safe, efficient, hospital admission and a timely discharge is a valuable skill which is useful in any care environment. If you are up for the challenge, these skills are transferable and essential to meet the nation's needs.
We have a dedicated Geriatrician medical team, Frailty Nurse consultant and a team of Frailty ACP's as well as a wider multi disciplinary team who work closely together to ensure the best treatment and care is available for our patients.
