Job summary

BAND 2 PHYSIOTHERAPY ASSISTANT

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 2 Physiotherapy Assistant to our Therapy Team at Grantham and District Hospital, working with our experienced Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. The successful candidate will work across the medical wards including the emergency assessment unit (EAU), elective orthopaedic ward, and also provide support staffing for the hydrotherapy service.

The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapist, medical and nursing staff. They will also be encouraged to liaise with other agencies that support patients and their families.

Our mission is to make a positive difference in patient's lives through the use of specialist and individualised therapy in partnership with the MDT, the patient and their family.

The applicant should be able to cope with the demands of a busy workload under supervision of qualified Therapist and be able to work with patients who are acutely ill.

Grantham Hospital is working towards becoming the "Orthopaedic centre of Excellence" for the region, it is the main site for elective orthopaedic surgery in Lincolnshire, and the Surgical Unit is one of the only GIRFT accredited wards in the country. There are some exciting developments across all specialties. Grantham is also the only hospital site in Lincolnshire with a hydrotherapy pool and you will be involved in provision of hydrotherapy as part of this role.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include:

  • To undertake support work to aid the rehabilitation of patients.
  • To accept patients referred by the Physiotherapist and continue their treatment plan under the direct supervision of the physiotherapist
  • Treat patients according to set treatment protocols, monitoring progression and make minor alterations as required under the direct supervision of the Physiotherapist
  • Reporting back patient progress, informing the Physiotherapist of any problems or concerns.

Experience
