Job summary

ULHT has recently opened a brand new centralised Aseptic unit based at Boole Technology Centre on the Lincolnshire Science & Innovation Park, part of Lincoln University, Beevor Street, Lincoln. Boole Technology Centre is located close to the city centre and has good access to transport links with train and bus stations within walking distance. There is also car parking and bike storage available on site.

This new unit is a state of the art facility designed to accommodate production of Aseptic products in a purpose built central location. This Aseptic facility dispenses a range of CIVAS, chemotherapy products, Total Parenteral Nutrition and Clinical Trials. The unit is currently unlicenced but actively working towards obtaining a Manufacturing Specials Licence to achieve long-term capacity and sustainability.

The Pharmacy department has a well-integrated team of staff including Pharmacy Support Workers, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists, Administrative and Clerical staff and students who provide a pharmacy service to a range of general and specialist areas including Admissions, Medical & Surgical, Haematology & Oncology and Critical Care wards.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our growing and forward thinking team as Specialist Aseptic Services Operators (two posts).

Main duties of the job

  • To Undertake the Duties of a Dispensary Based Technician: g., Interpreting and dispensing prescriptions prior to validation by a Pharmacist and assemble for a check by a Pharmacist or accuracy Checking Technician.
  • To Undertake the Duties of a Ward Technician According to Protocol and Procedures:g., Discussing medication with patient and counsel the patient on the use and care of their medicine.
  • To Undertake Dispensing and Organising Duties in the Aseptic Services Section (Cytotoxic Reconstitution and Parenteral Nutrition Preparation and CIVA Services): g., Assembling work trays and recording batch numbers prior to reconstitution
