Job summary

We are looking for a Paediatric Clinical Research Nurse/ Practitioner to support research studies across the Family Health Division.

If this is you, we have a rare and exciting opportunity to join our research delivery team as a research nurse/ practitioner. We are a diverse team and welcome applicants from a wide range of clinical and health care backgrounds.

The successful candidate will need to be adaptable, confident, and enthusiastic about the role and keen to move paediatric research forward within the trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder responsibilities will include co-ordination of care for patients on trials, collection and preparation of biological samples, collection of trial data, administration of medications (if required, and within professional remit), monitoring of the expected and unexpected side effects of drugs and other treatments.

Education of patients, their families and colleagues on trial related procedures under the guidance of a Clinical Investigators will be required. The post holder will be expected to develop skills and knowledge relating to the conduct of clinical trials, the therapies and disease, and be able to work autonomously. Good communication skills are a must, as the role involves helping and enabling patients and their families to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical trials by providing advice and information and acting as an advocate.

Previous research experience is desirable but not essential, the post will give an opportunity to work with different research teams in other specialties to assist in building up research knowledge and skills with a tailored induction package for the successful candidate. The post holder will need to work at both Lincoln County Hospital and Pilgrim Hospital Boston sites, travel between to two sites is essential.
