Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, and resilient nurse specialist to take up this exciting new role and join the HPB surgical team within ULHT. This is a new role within ULHT, which we wish to develop, alongside the perfect candidate.
You will have regular engagement with support services, the consultant and nursing teams, cancer navigators, and attend the HPB MDT meeting, to oversee and ensure high quality, efficient and effective service delivery. You will support the outreach clinics at Boston and Lincoln and after training, run your own surveillance clinics, which will be a mixture of face to face and telephone appointments, working the consultant team.
The role involves work in clinics and on the wards, ensuring patients and their carers/relatives have support through the HPB pathway.
The HPB surgical clinical team have a strong vision for the service development in the future, and are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, and a strong team ethos, to join them on this journey for the next 24 months.
This role is currently funded until March 2025, where we hope to get further funding to make the post substantive. Full training will be offered by HPB colleagues from Nottingham and Kingsmill and CNS teams within ULHT. We are open to full or part time candidates and base site will be Lincoln or Boston, this is to be agreed with candidate.
Main duties of the job
- The post holders will be experienced nurses with a demonstrable track record of leading a team and innovating a service.
- You need to be able to think outside the box and work autonomously as well as be part of a wider, supportive team.
- You will receive comprehensive training in the management of patients HPB disease
- You will be expected to to help transfer the management of these patients from hospital-based care to primary care services utilising a wide skillset which encompasses confident practice and excellent communication.
- In the longer term, you will be encouraged and supported to achieve the qualifications which will equip you to become a nurse consultant and run your own service.
You will have a specialist focus working with patients on their diagnostic journey and those diagnosed with a HPB disease. You will work with radiology, the ULHT Upper GI and Surgical consultants, The HPB and Liver surgeons from Nottingham and the established CNS workforce.
