Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 HCSW to join the Queen Centre Ward 33 Haematology and teenage cancer ward.

The successful candidate will work alongside a team of Clinicians delivery high standards of compassionate patient care on a busy 28 bedded acute ward.

The post holder is responsible for supporting the registered nurse or other professional in the delivery of direct patient care procedures. They will work within defined parameters to undertake clinical care, technical and clerical duties, informing their supervisor of duties undertaken, and the outcome of these. The post holder is required to continue todemonstrate proficiently whilst in post.

Duties will include cannulation, venepuncture, urinalysis and obtaining blood cultures, performing ECG's, undertaking wound dressings, CVAD dressings. The candidate needs to understand and work accordingly within the trusts vision and values.

Main duties of the job

Supports patients and their families, through communicating information using a variety of methods,to ensure effective understanding and reporting the outcome to the nurse in charge. Contributes to the effective communication between members of the multi disciplinary team, takingpersonal responsibility to share update and share information Ensures information is conveyed to the patient in a timely and understandable manner, usingdifferent communication methods to clarify understanding Responsible for ensuring the registered nurse receives factual, prompt and accurate information onhow patients progress Attends and contributes to department meetings regularly
