Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist - Complex Rehabilitation

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, and dynamic Occupational Therapist to join our established Complex Rehabilitation Team at Castle Hill Hospital, as Clinical Lead OT. This is an opportunity for a candidate to consolidate and further improve leadership and clinical skills at a senior level.

The post holder will work alongside MDT colleagues to support the assessment of need across a range of clinical conditions which present within complex rehabilitation with varying degrees of complexity.

It is expected that the applicant for this post will have comprehensive experience working in the areas of clinical neurosciences, preferably with experience in neurosurgery/ neuro- rehabilitation, including acute NHS experience.

The applicant will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to proficiently assess cognition and performance using both standardised and non- standardised assessment, which is a pre- requisite for this post.

As the Clinical lead OT, as well as having direct input into the assessment and treatment of patients, demonstrating an advanced clinical skill set. In collaboration with the Clinical Lead Physiotherapists, you will oversee and co-ordinate the therapy team in the delivery of evidence based interventions to facilitate recovery, promote well being and optimise independent functioning as far as reasonably possible in all areas of life.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide joint leadership to the complex rehabilitation team therapy team, and clinically will be responsible for the comprehensive assessment, rehabilitation, onward care and discharge planning to patients referred by the MDT.

The Post holder will work clinically as part of as an Integrated Therapy team, ward MDT and wider MDT to deliver highly skilled assessment, interventions, discharge planning, and signposting to various services across the region. Networking and building partnerships with other agencies involved in patient care to both identify and address immediate and ongoing needs.

The post holder will be responsible for the training ,development, and work performance of the therapy team, in collaboration of the Physiotherapy Clinical Leads .

The Clinical lead OT will contribute to the management and development of the Neurosurgery therapy team in conjunction with the Senior Therapy Manager, and complex rehabilitation Management teams. Attending senior meetings in relation to Clinical Governance and Operational meetings.

The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly as there is an expectation that staff in the team support with providing a seven day service.
