Job summary

We are looking for a motivated Clinical Psychologist to join the Department of Psychological Services within Hull University Teaching Hospitals Trust (HUTH).

The post holder will provide a high-quality service to people with acquired brain injuries but may also have the opportunity to work with patients with other complex medical needs.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work with both inpatients and outpatients with acquired brain injuries, mainly based at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham, but may be required to travel across sites providing a high quality, specialist, applied psychology service to patients, their families and carers.

Neuropsychological skills and experience are desirable but not essential, as the post holder will be fully trained and supervised by a qualified consultant clinical neuropsychologist.

The post holder will support psychological practice within the Trust through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.

They will participate in systematic clinical governance and, where necessary, contribute to the clinical supervision of assistants, trainees and more junior psychological practitioners, as well as other staff.

The post holder will utilise research skills for audit, service development and research within the area served by the team/service. There will be opportunities for CPD and training as appropriate.

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS
  • Registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council

Desirable

  • Post doctoral training in clinical neuropsychology
  • Formal training in one or more therapeutic approaches (e.g. CBT)

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working clinically with individuals in a health setting
  • Skills in using complex methods of psychological assessment and intervention e.g. cognitive behavioural therapy, ACT, CFT.
