Job summary

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Biologics Administrator to support the Respiratory Biologics and Advanced Therapies Service. The successful applicant will work predominantly within the Severe Asthma Service due to the large and established patient population currently receiving biologic treatments.

The post holder will provide dedicated administrative and coordination support to the respiratory multidisciplinary team, helping to ensure timely initiation and continuation of biologic therapies, effective communication with patients, and close liaison with pharmacy and homecare providers. The role includes maintaining accurate treatment records, supporting MDT processes, managing patient queries, and contributing to service improvement and evaluation activity.

The role will also support patients with COPD if and when NHS commissioning for biologic medicines is agreed for this patient group.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide administrative and coordination support to the Respiratory Biologics and Advanced Therapies Service, predominantly supporting Severe Asthma, with support to COPD biologic pathways subject to NHS commissioning.

  • Establish, maintain and quality-assure an accurate biologics database, ensuring timely tracking of MDT decisions, prescriptions, treatment initiation and continuation

  • Support the organisation and administration of Respiratory Biologics MDT, including preparation of patient lists, recording outcomes, and monitoring agreed actions

  • Coordinate biologic prescription requests in line with MDT decisions liaising with Senior respiratory nurse specialist, respiratory pharmacy teams and homecare providers to support timely prescribing and delivery

  • Act as a central administrative point of contact for patient queries relating to biologic therapies, ensuring queries are logged, monitored and directed appropriately

  • Support mapping, review and improvement of biologics and homecare administrative pathways, contributing to service improvement activity

  • Collect, record and report agreed activity and outcome data to support service monitoring, evaluation and business case development

  • All activity will be managed and supported by the Senior Respiratory Nurse Specialist for the Severe Asthma Service, with close working across the respiratory MDT

  • Always work in accordance with Trust policies, information governance requirements and data protection legislation.
