Job summary
The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Working as part of the multidisciplinary endoscopy team, the post holder will assist in the preparation, support and recovery of patients, ensuring safety, comfort and dignity at all times. The role involves clinical assessment, monitoring during procedures, assisting the endoscopist, and providing post-procedure care and advice in line with professional standards. The role involves participation in an out-of-hour on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures
- Prepare patients pre-procedure and provide monitoring, support, and recovery care post-procedure
- Assist endoscopists during procedures, including equipment setup and handling.
- Monitor patients' observations, recognise and respond to complications, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with policies and legal requirements
- Ensure infection prevention, health & safety, and endoscopy unit standards are met at all times
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team
- Support service efficiency, training of staff, and continuous quality improvement within the unit
