Job summary
An exciting Fixed Term opportunity - initially for 1 year - for a dedicated Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our Hepatology Specialist Nurse team. The post-holder will primarily contribute to our Community Liver Health Check work, delivering specialist Liver care in community settings. To support early diagnosis of liver disease, but will be expected to work within the broader Liver team.
The post holder will independently deliver nurse-led community Fibroscan clinics, and contribute to the MASLD service, HCC Surveillance, support the nurse led paracentesis service, and inpatient areas where patients with liver disease are cared for.
Please note, the successful candidate will be required to travel to community settings, so must have access to your own vehicle, along with appropriate insurance. Travel expenses for the purpose of work will be reimbursed.
This role is an initial 1-year fixed term contract and will be 30.0 hours per week. The candidate will need to be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of our patients and service, alongside discussion of individual needs. Good communication skills are essential.

Main duties of the job
In this new role, you will support the Community Liver Specialist Nursein the delivery of patient-centered care for individuals requiring investigation for or living with suspected liver disease.
This includes:
o The Community Liver Health Check programme
o Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) service
o Day case ascitic drain (paracentesis) service
o Supporting the management of in-patients with chronic liver disease.
o You will work across a variety of settings including community locations, outpatient departments, day case and some inpatient locations.
o Nurse-led Fibroscan clinics in both community and hospital settings
o Procedural care in the nurse led ascitic drain (paracentesis) service
o Support patients with liver disease in inpatient areas as required by the service.
o You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to offer support, advice, and education to patients and staff, ensuring high standards of care of care across the service.
o You will work flexibly to meet the evolving needs of the service, adapting to any changes in workload or patient requirements.
o The post is based at Hull Royal Infirmary, with the workload carried out in a variety of community and hospital clinical settings.
o The post requires a full UK driving licence & access to a vehicle
