Job summary
The post holder is responsible for ensuring the effective running of the Plastics trauma and surgical outpatients department at Hull Royal Infirmary and the plastic surgery department at Castle Hill Hospital.
This role provides clinical leadership and managerial with support from the junior sisters in each department.
The senior sister/charge nurse will work as a highly skilled member of the multidisciplinary team, practising a high standard of clinical care and being key to improve the patient's experience.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will supervise the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and support and encourage the concept of team working and team development.
The unit at Hull Royal is open 7 days a week, the Plastic Trauma service functions similarly to a one-stop treatment facility, where patients are seen in the clinic and, when appropriate, treated in the Clean Room located within the same outpatient area at HRI on the same day. We saw and treated approx. 7000 patients last year with a variety of injuries. Alongside the trauma unit runs the surgical outpatient department which hosts a variety of outpatients clinics for a variety of surgical specialities.
The Castle Hill plastics department runs a variety of clinics, dressings clinics for follow up and complex wound patients, alongside the Westwood Minor Operations suite and the specialist nursing service.
