Hull Royal Infirmary/Castle Hill Hospital

Band 2

Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to pursue a career in Clinical Coding at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, part of the NHS Humber Health Partnership, with Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.

In return, we will provide comprehensive training to enable you to gain a good knowledge of medical conditions, become proficient in the application of the National Clinical Coding Standards and Conventions and attain a nationally recognised qualification and accreditation.

Please note that this advertised vacancy does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore HUTH would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to ensure the department has the necessary resources to meet monthly deadlines, this will include searching for casenotes, managing discharge lists, data entry, sourcing and interpreting missing patient documentation.

You should be a self-motivated, enthusiastic, efficient individual, with good interpersonal skills, and be willing to learn. You will have a proven ability to prioritise, plan and organise work on a daily basis and have the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will be ready for a challenge, work proactively within our team and work independently whist adapting to a dynamic and often pressurised working environment.

The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of the Trusts IT systems, and a proven record of problem solving, analytical skills with an eye for detail.

We have introduced an excellent career pathway, whereby once you have attended and passed the Clinical Coding Standards Course, achieved the necessary requirements through internal audit and there is a vacancy you will progress to a Band 3. You will then be able to work towards the National Clinical Coding Examination, and following successful completion, you will progress to Band 4, Senior Clinical Coding Officer.

We actively encourage visits to the department, to find out what we are all about.
