Ward Manager - Gynaecology OP

Job summary

The post holder is responsible for ensuring the effective management of the Gynaecology Outpatient Department and Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) department over the 24-hour period.

They will provide clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing team. They will supervise the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care ensuring that nursing and corporate standards are maintained and measured.

Main duties of the job

Actively supports patients and their families, communicating difficult and complex informationusing a variety of methods, to ensure effective understanding.

Ensures that staff are updated on service changes and have the opportunity to communicateconcerns.

Acts as a role model and mentor to the nursing team.

Provides visible clinical leadership and authoritative presence, responsible for ensuring thedelivery of high quality care.

Utilises professional knowledge to assess, plan, evaluate and implement care interventions for patients. Provides advice to junior members of staff on nursing issues on a daily basis
