Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Cancer Pathway Co-ordinatorTeam within the Cancer Network Care Group of the Humber Health Partnership. Working within clearly defined Group policies the post holder will assist the Cancer Pathway Administration Team in meeting national and local targets .

The main duties of this post are to include administrative support for Multi Disciplinary Teams (MDTs), collecting CWT data, tracking patients through their cancer journey to the point of diagnosis using the Best Practice Timed Pathways reference points, adding appropriate patients to MDT list for discussion, accurate and timely data entry onto Somerset Cancer Registry (SCR) and other Group systems. You will be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

The post holder will be responsible for the collection of all cancer waiting times data requirements. Excellent communication skills at all levels are essential for this role along with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines. Experience of Microsoft Office or a relevant computer qualification is required, and proficiency in Word and Excel is essential. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of data capture processes, and a working knowledge of computerised patient administration systems/patient activity and other in house systems. Familiarity with medical terminology would be a distinct advantage.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for tracking patients and providing up-to-date information as they progress through the cancer care pathway, liaising closely with core services such as Radiology, Pathology and Oncology in order to ensure patients receive their treatments to meet National Cancer Waiting Times Standards. He/she must be highly organised, paying close attention to detail and as the post commands a significant level of responsibility, the postholder will need to be able to both work in conjunction with clinical teams and on their own initiative.

The postholder will also assist the Care Group in maintaining accreditation for cancer services by capturing accurate, complete and timely patient data to support the submission of national cancer waiting times to the Department of Health, and participating in producing reports to demonstrate achievement of performance and quality indicators.

The postholder will be required to work across a variety of tumour sites/screening to ensure all relevant cases are collected within strict deadlines.

The postholder will be required to develop and maintain a good working relationship with all staff and liaise closely with clinicians, nursing staff, Clinical Administrative Support Team and patient administration staff at all levels throughout the Trust. The postholder must have excellent communication skills, be organised and pay close attention to detail.
